As I sit here on this chilly Friday evening, my mind is full. Much is weighing heavy on me right now and I wonder how it is that during such a happy time in my life I am feeling so absolutely terrible. I have so much to be thankful for, and I think I need to change my focus to more positive things. I don’t often blog about the “not so great things” in life, but that is simply what life is - a mixture of painful and difficult times as well as those beautiful and unexpected moments. I know that soon I hope to break free of what is going on, just not tonight. I am pulled to ponder on one of my favorite quotes from an absolutely fabulous movie, Love Actually.
“Whenever I get gloomy in the state of the world, I think about
the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make
out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems
to me that love is everywhere. Often its not particularly dignified or newsworthy,
but it’s always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and
wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers,
as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages
of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it,
I’ve got a sneaky feeling that love actually is all around.”
